When the chips are down there’s nothing more important than all banding together as a society to help beat the coronavirus. That’s why this is our favourite good news story!
When the Health Secretary, Matt Hancock announced an initiative to recruit at least 250,000 NHS volunteers to help with delivering medicines, vital medical equipment and food supplies to vulnerable groups who are self-isolating. It is amazing news to learn that 750,000 have signed up to volunteer … in fact there has been so many people they’ve had to put a temporary pause on applications!

Holby City and Casualty Donate Medical Supplies
The producers of BBC medical dramas, Casualty and Holby City have announced they will be donating their personal protective equipment (PPE) from the set of the shows.
This includes providing important face masks to NHS staff who are working tirelessly on the frontline.

Everyone isolating at home now has their very own personal trainer in the house, in the form of fitness influence, Joe Wicks!
Joe Wicks, who is also known as the Body Coach is helping parents across the UK who are home-schooling their children with 30-minute live PE classes … but it’s not just for the kids! Adults can join in too.

Pubs Donating Perishables To The NHS
After the Prime Minister announced all restaurants and pubs must close, it was short notice for the food outlets, who will have had fridges full of perishable food.
The Grove Pub in Balham, South West London took matters into their own hands and delivered their ice cream and sandwiches to the London Ambulance Service and NHS staff to keep them fed and watered and the morale high!

Alcohol Brands Are Making Hand Sanitiser
Several beer and spirit brands, such as Brewdog and Leith Gin have started using the alcohol content in their products to make hand sanitisers instead!
