Safe patient handling involves the use of assistive devices to ensure that veterans can be lifted safely and that care providers avoid performing high-risk manual handling tasks.

New, innovative lifting devices such as the Mangar Camel and ELK Lifting Cushions provide care professionals such as physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and carers with an alternative to traditional methods of lifting.

The portable lifting equipment allows it to be used from room to room and helps to lift veterans gently and with the dignity they deserve.

The Camel Lifting Cushion has a supportive back-rest which provides a chair-like quality, which is comforting when being lifted. It can be used both indoors and outdoors and can lift up to 700lbs.

The ELK Lifting Cushion is ideal for lifting a person in confined spaces, for example between the toilet and wall or bathtub. It can lift up to 980 lbs with ease and requires very little training as it’s very simple to use.
