The Ekamove is an automated, sensor controlled patient positioning system which can be programmed to meet the individual needs of the patient. It is designed to gently and quietly turn patients up to 30°, without the intervention of a healthcare professional.

The Ekamove air chamber is placed under a mattress and inflated to laterally lift the person lying on it. Operated via a control unit, you can select a separate positioning time for each step of the process and therefore give better protection to the affected areas of the patient’s body.

Who is affected?

It is estimated that nearly half a million people in the UK will develop at least one pressure ulcer in any given year. Usually there is an underlying health condition and those over 70 are most at risk due to mobility problems and ageing skin.
Where can the Ekamove be used?

In the community – the Ekamove patient turner is ideal for families who prefer to care for a loved one at risk of developing pressure ulcers at home. It also significantly reduces the impact on the person taking the caring role and can be purchased by Local Authorities and private individuals.

Hospitals – treatment for pressure ulcers can vary depending on the grade of the ulcer. In hospitals multidisciplinary teams will assess a patient for the best solution and will avoid putting any vulnerable areas of skin under pressure where ever possible. The Ekamove enables clinicians to make flexible, informed decisions with regard to patient care.

Care Homes – the elderly are particularly vulnerable to pressure ulcers and when mobility is lost may need turning hourly. The Ekamove reduces the impact on staff resource and cuts manual handling requirement by healthcare professionals.

Hospices – an important priority for end of life care is pain management. The Ekamove is non-intrusive care for those vulnerable to pressure ulcers.
